Cruise the tranquil waters off Assateague Island National Seashore to see the famous Assateague Ponies, brown pelicans, other wildlife and bird sanctuaries. |

Chincoteague Island / Assateague Island Cruise Travel from Ocean City to Chincoteague while exploring the back bays and waterways. Included is a tour of the 37 miles of Assateague Island National Seashore, inlet to inlet. The Chincoteague waterfront tour includes the maze of marsh channels between Chincoteague and the mainland. You will see nature, up close and personal including the many species of birds that inhabit the area. The Assateague Lighthouse built in 1867 to replace an earlier less efficient lighthouse, its automated light atop the 142 foot structure on a 22-foot pine bluff can be seen 19 miles at sea and from the inland bay. If you are into photography you are in for a treat. The Chesapeake Bay is a great place for photography subjects, including many species of birds, old Colonial homes, work boats and great sunsets.You may want a tour of the bay's marshy islands and old gunning clubs (popular in the early part of the 20th Century) that are now owned by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. These islands include Bishop's Head, Foxes Island and Port Isabel Island. Along with touring these islands you will see nesting birds such as the Brown Pelican and Heron colonies.
